Pavers & Hardscape

Patios and walkways set to stay flat for decades.

Paver patios, walkways, driveway borders, and sitting areas built on a proper compacted base. The base is the whole job. Skip it and pavers heave and settle through our freeze-thaw winters. We do not skip it.

What's included

  • Excavation and a compacted road-base and sand foundation
  • Paver, flagstone, or stepping-stone patios and paths
  • Edge restraint and polymeric sand so joints stay locked
  • Proper pitch for drainage and freeze-thaw durability
  • Fire-pit pads, borders, and seat walls to match
Built for our climate

Northern Utah cycles through freeze and thaw all winter. A paver patio is only as good as the base under it, so we dig to depth and compact in lifts. That is why ours do not turn into a wavy mess by year three.

Common questions

Will pavers shift or heave in winter?

Not when the base is built right. We excavate, lay compacted road base and sand, and lock the edges, so the surface rides through freeze-thaw without moving.

Pavers or a concrete slab?

Pavers flex with the ground, are easy to repair one stone at a time, and never show one big crack. For most patios and walks in our climate we recommend them.
